Back on the phone with Sirius I ask to send it back for a refund and get the run around from Sirius and finally they refuse saying I should return it to Amazon.com who refuses to take it back because I've exceeded the 30 day return limit. The Sirius St5tk1 unit I purchased does not produce an FM signal even though the instruction booklet says it will.Without the FM signal the unit is useless to me.The box says return it to Sirius.Sirius says the problem is in the dock. Sirius sends a new dock still no signal. Now I'm stuck holding the bill for the Sirius defect.Other folks seem to be having the same problem. Time for a recall Sirius.
It has 30 pre-sets and is easy to operate even while driving. It is a little frustrating to have "browsed" and found something interesting, get an S-SEEK alert, leave your channel to listen you a favorite and then not be able to get right back to it. Actually two things, but one cannot be helped. I have an older on that transmits it's signal all over my house. As you listen to music or other programming you are allowed to set FAVORITES and any time that artist shows up on the SAT you are alerted. It's very hand on trips. The FCC required the units be powered down.
ESPECIALLY if you are new to the service go for price. When SAT Radio first started the little receivers had powerful FM Transmitters to move the signal from the little SAT receiver to your FM car radio or home radio. A BACK button would be very handy.Since installing it the receiver has worked fine, and has had no problems.I recommend it and can say that in my experience with 4 different receivers that newer is not necessarily better. What's missing is a BACK button. This radio has S-SEEK. DO get one that has FM OUT so you can inject the now much weaker signal directly into your antenna line and also S-SEEK.
Sometime on 4 or 5 hour drives I can go from one S-SEEK alert to another without ever having to search for something to listen to.
This is much better than the radio I had before this (that was stolen). I love the ability to pause.
Luckily I kept my starmate 5 because my sportster 5 went dead on me and it's only a year old, my old starmate 5 is almost 2 yrs old but it still works great without any issues.
This is my third radio from Sirius. This is so cool because it allows the user to save money and still get Sirius radio. While I have some problems with their other components I love their radios. This is one of the new radios that allows for the A La Carte feature which allows the user to pick 50 of their favorite channels. The sleek design looks great in my truck, at my house, and at my office. Great all around product.
